Product Description

Solve Your Cat Scratching Problems Using Original, Authentic, Soft Paws—Made in the U.S.A.

Developed by a veterinarian, Soft Paws® nail caps are made in the USA using non-toxic vinyl. The nail caps are applied to your cat's claws using a non-toxic, cold-bonding, veterinary-grade adhesive, and are a completely safe and humane solution to cat scratching problems. Soft Paws do not interfere with the normal extension and retraction of claws, and most cats don't even know they are wearing them.

Economical Price
Only $19.95 per package for a 4 to 6 month supply.

Each Soft Paws® kit contains 40 nail caps, 2 tubes of adhesive, applicator tips, and easy-to-follow instructions. One kit contains enough for 4 front paw applications and each application lasts approximately 4 to 6 weeks, which makes each kit lasts approximately 4 to 6 months.

Small Size: (Approximately 6 months old — Approximately 6-8 pounds)

Some kittens at 5 months may need the small size if they are growing fast, or are large-breed cats.

Small-boned, adult cats often wear the small size. If your cat seems smaller than an average, full-grown cat, choose small.

  1. unhappy with purchase

Posted by Emily on 20th Dec 2016

Ordered a size small for my cat who weighs 8lbs. I have bought other brands of nail caps in a size small that has fit her well. I wanted to use soft paws to have more variety in my color choices. However, I was not satisfied because I found it was very difficult to get the glue into the nail cap without it getting all over the place and it took much longer to do which only causes more stress for my cat. I also found that the size small was too small for her as well compared to the other brands I have used. I bought 2 packs and plan to send the unopened one back.

  2. Safe and Life-Changing!

Posted by Tina Anderson on 20th Dec 2016

I was so very frustrated with my calico kittens and their inability to control their claws and to use their sisal scratching posts. I am really hoping they will eventually be more deliberate about when and how they use their claws. In the meantime, the Soft Paws are truly a furniture, face, arms, fingers and legs life-saver! My 8-month-old girls are very loving and very playful and we can engage in both without my worrying that I will be accidentally raked on my face, or add another 200 holes to my jeans! They are very diligent about trying to chew them off; so, for now, I return fairy frequently to the vet techs to re-cap. The vet techs keep telling me to stay the course... that they will eventually get used to them. They use medical grade superglue as the adhesive, which is non toxic according to the Animal Poison Control Center. The soft paws themselves are also non-toxic. My vet said that if they are swallowed, they will just pass through their digestive system. My first application lasted 6 weeks, and in the 6th week, a lot of the soft paws came off, indicating it was time for nail clipping and a fresh application. I also decided to just cap the front claws and keep the rear claws trimmed. I called customer support and got wonderful advice from Anna about how to put them on to last longer. I will pass this on to the vet techs, and I believe I will eventually be able to do this myself, as my girls are getting bigger and letting me hold them longer and touch their paws without fear. Ironically, both girls now use all the scratching posts...to help get them off!

  3. Good product for cats with skin disease

Posted by Annie G. on 17th Dec 2016

I ordered Softpaws based on reviews from other cat owners whose cats had the same skin disease as mine - where they compulsively scratch their neck until it bleeds (and in my cat's case develops a huge life-threatening infection. Scary!). The softpaws are put on the back claws to prevent that from happening. My cat has had to wear a cone for two years now. She will soon be slowly taken off the cone since the skin has healed. The softpaws will keep her from breaking the skin open again while her medication reduces the itchiness. The only criticism I have is that it's hard to visually tell if I've put glue to 1/3 of the nail cover piece. That led to a couple nail covers falling off because of too little glue. A little black line or some other way of showing how much glue to put in would be a big help. Otherwise, it works great and stays on. She barely notices them!

  4. Digger is no longer digging her claws into everything!

Posted by Lisa on 13th Dec 2016

Easy to apply, look great, our cat isn't trying to remove them! Also slightly humorous when she tries to scratch now!

  5. Excellent product

Posted by Catherine on 13th Dec 2016

I love SoftPaws. We've never used any other brand of nail cover for our kitten. The only disadvantage that I've found with them is that the kitten ones don't stay on as long as the 6-8 weeks advertised. I assume it's because they shed their claws more often. They're generally easy to put on, although last time I kept gluing my fingers together. Generally, though, it's quick and easy. I usually have to wait till my kitten is asleep so that she's groggy when I put them on. Otherwise, she's so active that it's a bit of a trial. Overall, though, a good product that has saved my furniture from destruction and my cat from the veterinarian.

  6. So Cool

Posted by Shell on 7th Dec 2016

They were easy to put on and they don't bother him at all!!!
When he start to scratch on something, I just giggle!!!

  7. really cute and super effective!

Posted by Nicole on 4th Dec 2016

Really great alternative to declawing. My baby got into the habit of scratching everything from carpets to chair to blue jeans while people are wearing them lol they are not easy to put on because she's so so fussy about her feet but once they're on they don't bug her at all! Will definately recommend!

  8. SUPER Cute and SOO Ah-mazing!!!!

Posted by Mama T. on 29th Nov 2016

Saw a link for these online when I was researching the declawing surgery. LOVE my Pookeyboo, Faith, but her nails scratch me and the furniture. I found myself getting onto her more and more often and wanted a change that wasn't expensive or painful for her- she's a rescue and has been through a lot.

WOW! These were really an answered prayer. No joke! Watched the videos a few times each and then took the plunge to apply them. It was SO easy!!! My baby is like her Mama- fussy about folks touching her feet, but this didn't bother her too much at all. Now, she has sexy, sassy red nails for the holiday season. Her paws feel SO soft like she was declawed. Just ingenious product that's cheap and easy to apply/use. How often does that happen these days?!

  9. An inexpensive, humane solution

Posted by Unknown on 11th Nov 2016

I had my vet tech help me to put these on for the first time, but my cat cooperated. Ten days have now passed, and she doesn't seem bothered by them at all. In fact, it doesn't seem that she is even aware that they're there. And they make her claws smooth, so that she no longer digs into the furniture or my skin. I've heard that not all cats accept them, but mine did. Well worth a try.

  10. Soft Paws

Posted by jeanne davis on 7th Nov 2016

I am disappointed in this product. These paws have only been on the cat a little over a week and about half of them have come off. I believe I followed all the directions. I put the glue in the paws and rubbed them together, etc.

    Response from Soft Paws:
The nails fell off within a week. Not easy to put on either.

    Response from Soft Paws:
Please contact us so we can help provide some tips to ensure the nail caps stay on.

Some cat will groom the nail caps excessively at first resulting in them coming off sooner. Most cats will adjust to them in a couple of weeks.

Here are a couple of hints to help keep the nail caps on your cat.
First, when trimming the nails, trim just the tip of the nail. Trim just enough to allow the cap to fit all the way to the base of then nail. This provides more surface area for the glue to adhere the cap to the nail.

Also, use just a couple of drops of glue. Using too much glue will weaken the adhesive seal. Usually it is best just to put about two to three drops of glue in the tip and squeeze the sides so the glue is dispersed throughout the cap. Then slide it on the nail.

If your cat removes any of the caps, try to replace them as soon as possible. That way your cat is not "rewarded" for removing the caps.

Also, there are bitter deterrents you can use on cats to keep them from chewing if you think your cat is chewing on them excessively. We can advise what will work best, although most of the time, these are not required. It is probably just a matter of your cat getting used to the caps.

Again- please feel free to email or call us and request a consult with Dr Schelling so she can help you with this matter.
